PRIVACY POLICY
General Privacy Policy
This privacy policy (the “Privacy Policy“) describes the data processing practices used when you use our website www.dekleinemote.be (hereinafter the “Website“) or access our services.
This Privacy Policy may be amended from time to time to reflect legal, technical, or commercial changes. Where required by applicable data protection legislation, we will obtain your consent for any material changes to this Privacy Policy.
The Website is owned and operated by B.V. Desch, with registered office at Brusselsesteenweg 142, 1860 Meise, registered with the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises under company number 01 771.604 and VAT number BE 0849.595.779 (“De Kleine Mote“, “we“, “us“, or “our“).
In this Privacy Policy, the term “Personal Data” refers to any information that, alone or in combination with other information, allows you to be identified directly, such as your name or email address, or indirectly, such as information collected from your mobile device.
When browsing our Website, you are not required to provide any Personal Data. However, without providing certain Personal Data, you cannot use our services: we are required by law to “register travelers.”
Before providing any Personal Data to us, please read this Privacy Policy carefully to understand how we use your Personal Data after we have collected it.
When do we collect data?
Through our Website, we collect Personal Data through the use of online forms and whenever you send us your information by email.
Traveler registration usually occurs on-site, sometimes in advance by email or through platforms such as Bookig.com, etc.
What Personal Data do we collect from you?
Visit Website
When you visit our Website, we may collect the following categories of Personal Data: (i) information about your computer or mobile device (IP address, brand, model, operating system, MAC address, Wi-Fi connections, your provider, etc.); (ii) geolocation data; and (iii) the information you provide when you contact us.
Bookings
The law requires us to record the following information for each traveler (and retain it for 7 years): first and last name, place of birth, date of birth, nationality, the number of the identity document presented or any replacement document, the first and last name of minor children accompanying an adult traveler, and the dates of arrival and departure.
We may enable this data to be shared on our website.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service if you use it. After your comment is approved, your profile picture is publicly visible in the context of your comment.
If you upload images to the site, you should avoid including EXIF GPS location data with them: this location data will be visible to third parties who download the images.
Cookies
A cookie is a file containing small amounts of information that a website can send to your browser, which can then store it on your computer or mobile device when you use that website or app.
We use cookies to enable the use of the Website and to understand which parts of the Website you are interested in. We use a first-party cookie, provided in conjunction with Google Analytics (Link Privacy Policy).
When you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your information again when you leave another comment. These cookies are valid for one year.
When you edit or publish a post, an additional cookie is stored in your browser. This cookie contains no personal data and only contains the post ID of the article you edited. This cookie expires after one day.
Embedded content from other websites
Posts on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
We accept no responsibility or liability for the privacy policies of such third-party websites, and your use of such websites is at your own risk.
What do we do with your Personal Data?
Our website is primarily intended to present the services of De Kleine Mote and the various activities in and around Heuvelland.
When you provide us with your Personal Data as described above, we may use it to:
- Comply with the legal “visitor registration” obligation;
- Statistical analysis;
- Publish reviews;
- Sending promotional or informational messages related to De Kleine Mote;
- To understand your preferences and allow us to better understand how you use our services.
How long do we retain your Personal Data?
We will not retain your Personal Data longer than necessary for the purposes of processing your Personal Data as disclosed in this Privacy Policy. When we no longer have a legitimate business need to process your Personal Data, we will delete it.
When you leave a comment, that comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can automatically recognize and approve any follow-up comments instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
To whom do we share your Personal Data?
We do not share your Personal Data with third parties outside of our company without your prior consent.
We will only share your Personal Data with government agencies or law enforcement authorities if this is required (i) by law, (ii) to comply with a court order, or (iii) to protect your vital interests or those of another person. The law requires us to keep your Personal Data available to the police, who must be able to consult it on-site or request certain data in the form of a file, a printout, or a copy of the paper register.
We may also share your Personal Data with external service providers we engage in connection with the services they provide to us, particularly to support us in areas such as payment, hosting, and invoice processing.
In addition, we may disclose your Personal Data (i) to our auditors, advisors, legal representatives and similar agents in connection with the advice they provide to us for legitimate business purposes and under a contractual prohibition from using the Personal Data for any other purpose or (ii) to a potential buyer (and its agents and advisors) in connection with any proposed purchase, merger or acquisition of any part of our business, provided that we inform the buyer it must use your Personal Data only for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
International Transfer of Personal Data
Since the internet is a global environment, using the internet to collect personal data necessarily involves the transfer of data across international borders. Therefore, by using the Website and providing your Personal Data to us, you acknowledge our processing of your Personal Data on this basis.
This means that your Personal Data may be transferred to, and processed in, countries other than the one in which you reside. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those of your country (and, in some cases, may be less protective). Specifically, we do not know where our servers are physically located; our internet service providers and partners operate worldwide. This means that when we collect your Personal Data, we may process it in any of these countries.
However, we have implemented appropriate safeguards to ensure that your Personal Data remains protected in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Security
We maintain appropriate security measures to protect the Personal Data you provide against unauthorized disclosure, use, alteration, or destruction. Please note that perfect security does not exist on the internet. While we strive to protect your Personal Data, data transmitted over the internet may be accessed and used by unauthorized persons.
Your Data Protection Rights
Under applicable data protection laws, you have, among other things, the following rights:
- You can access the Personal Data held by De Kleine Mote and, in accordance with applicable data protection law, object to the processing of your Personal Data for reasons relating to your particular situation and request that we restrict the processing of your Personal Data;
- You have the right to unsubscribe from communications from De Kleine Mote at any time.
- You can request that we erase any Personal Data we hold about you. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. In addition, we reserve the right to retain certain relevant Personal Data (such as your name, first name, telephone number, and email address) if there is a legitimate suspicion of misconduct.
